Do you like yoga, dance, walking your dog? These activities can be just as good as meditation to compel you to return again and again to the present moment.
You don’t need to go on retreat. There are no pre-reqs, no tried and true or only ways to “feel better.”
“Mindfulness” doesn’t (and shouldn’t!) happen only on the yoga mat or meditation cushion. In fact, the truth is that these days, we humans could really use a little more presence, awareness, and intention out in the world. On the streets. Waiting in line. At the dinner table.
There’s more than one way up the mountain of becoming a better you. And as much as we might resist, every moment is a teachable one.
On your yoga mat, you’re faced with your own strengths and limitations. Can you get curious and accept the here and now?
Meanwhile, when you’re walking your dog — what happens if you leave your phone at home, slow down, and really watch and listen to this four-legged friend in every moment?
There are opportunities for practice in every moment. Find what works for you and go there. Every moment offers a chance to come present.
